Farmhouse Revival

This Greek Revival farmhouse, one of the oldest in Portland's Rosemont neighborhood, was on the brink of being demolished, when new owners purchased it in 2019. For two decades, the Marguerite Emerson House was unoccupied (other than by varmints and vandals) and the interior had been virtually destroyed.

With the help of MA Builders — and over a year and a half of hard work — the house has been restored to its former glory.  Tearing it down to its original studs, Matt Alcorn and his crew rebuilt it from the inside out.

Together with the owners, the architect, and some “forensic archeology,” they were able to salvage and restore the 170 year old doors, trim and mantels found on the property.

This home is now listed as a local historic landmark by the City of Portland.
